Belem and Sintra

The day begins with a private guide / driver meeting, which will be at your disposal throughout the day! On a private minivan, we leave for Belém, a beautiful place next to the Tagus River, where you will find the most famous and impressive monuments of the Age of Discovery, such as: Padrão dos Descobrimentos, Torre de Belém and Mosteiro dos Jerónimos. Our tour also includes visits to the monastery, which is one of the most outstanding examples of the Manueline architectural style and was listed by UNESCO to World Heritage sites, as well as the Belém Tower. After the tour, you can not miss the tasting of Pastéis de Belém, one of the most famous Portuguese cakes, which are prepared according to an ancient recipe for monks from a nearby monastery.

Further we go by road Marginal – a fine road along the river which comes to an end, where the river runs into the sea! A small stop for exploring Cascais is a fishing village a few kilometers from Lisbon. Then we go to Sintra – the most romantic and charming village in Portugal, which in 1995 was included in the list of World Cultural Heritage sites of UNESCO! Lunch in Café Paris is a wonderful place that reflects the whole romance of the village. After lunch, we are waiting for a tasting of Port and Travesseiros (traditional cakes in Sintra) in Loja do Vinho (wine bar and shop), which is simply impossible to miss! We are on our way to Palácio da Pena – a 19th century palace, listed as a UNESCO heritage site and one of Portugal’s seven main sights, embodying the grandeur of romanticism in architecture. If time permits on the way back to Lisbon, we will stop to inspect Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of continental Europe.
