Torre de Belém – built in 1515-1521 by Francisco de Arruda in honor of the discovery of sea route to India by Vasco de Gama. Belem Tower – “Tower of Bethlehem” which used to be a small fortress, a gunpowder magazine, a prison and a custom. Jeronimos Monastery where the famous discoverer Vasco de Gama is buried, will amaze you with its unique architecture in the Manueline style.
